Planes and planes

I have always been fascinated by flight yet it wasn't until I was in my early 30's when I finally had my first plane ride - across country in an American Airlines jet. The pilot addressed the cabin in his Southern gentlemanly way announcing that he had checked with the tower and the weather looked absolutely great "for aviatin' around." I knew right then and there I was going to really like this. And I did and I still do.
As a photographer I find taking photos of old aircraft interesting enough. I have also done some sketches while sitting in the terminal waiting for my flights. After that first flight in my 30's I have continued my love of flying and have many friends in the industry. They are the ones who have reinforced my desires to fly. That and the lure of faraway places...
Someday I will fly in an F-17 even if they are mothballed in a desert somewhere...I will settle for anything with afterburners...

Nice propellar shot -  My reflection is in there too if you look closely.

Did this one belong to the Red Baron??

Not sure what the colors underneath represent. I'm waiting for some Air Force guy to tell me --- know any??

A nice graphic design of this propeller

The exterior of this fuselage really looks like metal without all the sharp lighting that reflects off the surface.

This photo has a lot of grain because there wasn't much light in the hangar at the new Air and Space museum. I also had to shoot it from far away and then cropped it. I like the look of the photo though - the graininess ages it somewhat.
